Some thoughts on Leadership…

This morning I was jotting down some things I wanted to work on with my team and I thought why not blog them 🙂 As leaders, we are always thinking of ways to better ourselves and our teams. Here are a few topics to focus on and work on if need be.

Self-management- Effective Leaders regulate their time. I know as your team grows that becomes more challenging, that’s when you have to start outsourcing certain things that are not income-producing activities. Its ok to get help so you can concentrate more on your business and the people you want to reach. Be aware of your strengths and your weaknesses. Surround yourself with people that are better than you! That’s how you learn and get better. All of the people in my tribe are my inner circle, people I trust more than anything else. They are there filling the spots that I either can’t do or don’t want to do. Somethings are too time-consuming. On the front end as a leader, your best thing that you can do is be out in front of other people.

Act strategically– Assess your business environment. Are you spending too much time on your house and not on your business? You know one thing that saves so many leaders so much time…A Virtual Assistant! You can get a VA for a very reasonable price. Imagine what you could do for your business if you had an extra 3-4 hrs a week. Trust me it’s worth every penny and it counts as an expense for your business.

Have a deep and genuine interest– You have to show a deep interest in your company, in your plan, in your product, and in your people. Assess what they are needing from you. Be flexible in your mindset here try new things. For instance, I started a Positivity Group a couple weeks ago. I really wasn’t sure if I wanted to start a new group on Facebook. I know that there’s a lot out there some people are already overwhelmed. But after listening to my heart and praying about it I knew I need to do it. You know what it is taking off like a bullet!! People need this and they’re hungry for it!

Goal planning– Think about your future. You can’t control the future but you can control what you do today. That’s why goal planning and then setting an action plan is so important. EVERY DAY you should be writing down goals and looking at your goals. Mine are posted EVERYWHERE! I did a blog on this some months back…It’s definitely worth the read.

Communication– You have to know when to talk and when to listen. Something I am always working on is not cutting people off when they are speaking. Good communication starts with listening. You have to be able to communicate on all levels … face to face, over the phone, social media, email, or text. Ask qualifying question and make sure that you know what they want. Also, be accountable and responsible for owning your mistakes. Be quick to apologize. You have to demonstrate this to your team by example. It is not an easy thing to do, but the more your team sees you do it, the easier it will be for them.
